7 Warm Pies, Cakes & Treats for Winter Baking

Thanksgiving Maple Pecan Blondies

I can’t be the only person who, the moment the weather turns cold, suddenly wants every cozy baked treat imaginable. Pies, cakes, warm desserts… anything that comes out of the oven smelling like comfort.

There’s just something about winter baking that hits differently. It warms you from the inside out, and honestly, even the food looks cozy this time of year.

Today I’m sharing our favorite winter baking recipes: the pies we crave on chilly evenings, the cakes that make the whole house smell amazing, and the warm treats Rita and I can never resist digging into right away. These make winter feel softer, sweeter, and a whole lot warmer!

1) Maple Pecan Blondies

Rita’s maple pecan blondies are one of her all-time favorite desserts. It’s a recipe her mother passed down to her. She has been making them for over 20 years! They’re chewy, delicious, and made with maple syrup instead of relying only on sugar, which gives them that deep, cozy flavor we love in winter. A true family classic.

2) Pecan Pie (Gluten-free)

This pecan pie is the one my family craves all year long. It was actually one of the first gluten-free recipes I ever made for my cousin Claudia, who has a gluten intolerance. She swears it tastes better than the original… and honestly, she’s right, haha.

Serve it warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for peak winter comfort. But be prepared because once you serve it, your family and friends will forget every other dessert exists. It’s that good!

3) Almond Orange Cake (Gluten-free)

Rita made this Almond Orange Cake with a little help from her truly Italian friend, and it tastes exactly like something you’d find in a real Italian home.

Naturally gluten-free, incredibly moist, and full of bright orange flavor! It’s one of those cakes that works at any time of day, breakfast, dessert, or with a warm cup of tea on a cold afternoon.

4) Lemon Zucchini Cake

This lemon zucchini cake is the perfect way to use up any leftover zucchini hiding in your fridge or freezer, practically begging to be used. It’s incredibly moist, with slightly crisp edges, and the lemon glaze on top gives it the most amazing bright, zesty finish. So simple, so good, and one of our favorite winter bakes.

5) Blueberry Muffins

Rita’s blueberry muffins are one of those bakes you simply can’t go wrong with, for real. She’s been making them for a few years now and everyone loves them. They’re simple, delicious, and have that little hint of lemon that makes them unforgettable. Honestly, some of the best muffins you’ll ever try… and trust me, we’ve tested plenty!

6) Apple Yogurt Rolls

Rita’s apple yogurt rolls are unbelievably good. They’re soft and bread-like, yet incredibly moist thanks to the little apple chunks tucked inside the dough. They’re at their absolute best warm, straight out of the oven, pure winter comfort. And even I, someone who isn’t usually a fan of fruity treats, can’t resist these.

7) Red Velvet Cookies

Rita’s Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies have officially become part of our Christmas Eve tradition. They’re soft, fudgy, and full of rich chocolate flavor, then rolled in sugar for that perfect crackled top. Beautiful and quick to make… everything you want in a winter treat.

We’re still adding a few more recipes to this list as we publish them, but I hope these become some of your favorite winter bakes too. They’re all super easy, comforting, and the kind of treats that make cold days feel a little warmer. Even if you don’t have much baking experience, I promise you these will turn out great.

And if you’re in a festive mood, don’t miss our cozy collection of holiday cookies everyone loves, or our roundup of winter breakfasts that warm you right up in the morning. Between those lists and this one, your winter kitchen is going to smell amazing.
